B.A. in Music (Hons), THROGA Certified Voice Teacher

"Life is an extraordinary adventure and having music in my life certainly enhances my spirituality.  I appreciate and enjoy sharing my musical talent as a singer-pianist and teacher/coach.  My commitment is to keep growing, learning, evolving, and sharing.  Fortunately this happens everyday whether I teach/coach, write songs, practice, rehearse, or perform.  ~  Anita G. Houser

Anita G. Houser is an Augusta, GA area-based contemporary singing teacher, vocal coach and piano teacher.

Anita has been making music since a little girl.   At the age of 9  she began formal lessons in piano to further her musical development and enhance her singing and playing piano in church, school, and in the community of her hometown of Georgetown, SC.   Her musical background includes voice, piano, keyboard/synthesizer, organ, and clarinet.

Anita first started teaching at the age of 15.   She quickly discovered that she had a gift and passion for understanding how to best guide each student step by step based on what they needed and how they learn.
Anita has 30+ years collective experience as a singer and pianist.  She has performed in choirs, choral groups/ensembles, musical theatre productions, performed as a solo vocalist, performed in Inspirational, R&B, & Jazz bands, and has assisted & led music ministry programs in churches in South Carolina and Georgia.
In 1989, Anita graduated with Bachelor of Music degree with honors (Magna Cum Laude) from Spelman College (Atlanta, GA).    She was classical piano major, and sang with the Spelman College Glee Club and played keyboard in the Spelman Jazz Ensemble.

She has additional training in classical piano through the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, and in Jazz Piano with Donald Macey here in Augusta.

Depending on a client's individual needs and goals (especially vocal clients) Anita draws from other aspects of her diverse training and/or experience as needed to support her clients with their musical development and in their lives in general.   (Such areas include
spiritual mind training, conscious breathing, martial arts, vocal toning, music therapy, writing, intuition, whole food nutrition, yoga and more).

Anita is constantly evolving as a human being, musician, holistic coach, educator, and mentor.  In 2013, Anita was hand-picked to train and become THROGA’s first Certified Voice Teacher and is more passionate than ever about equipping and guiding her clients in developing their voices and singing.

Anita has been formally studying the art of vocal coaching formally since 2011.  She has
an intuitive gift for identifying technical and emotional blocks in singing and finding solutions.   The goal is to equip singers in developing a healthy, balance vocal instrument and support them expressing themselves powerfully through song.

Anita also continues her independent studies with vocal development and Vocal and Piano Jazz.

"He who sings frightens away his ills." ~  Cervantes
"The only thing better than singing is more singing." ~  Ella Fitzgerald
"When I sing, trouble can sit right on my should and I don't even notice." ~ Sarah Vaughan

Anita is also available to perform as a jazz singer-pianist for private events and concerts.

"A big part of my purpose in life is to train, coach, and empower others in life.   Music is a main vehicle.  I am deeply inspired to use my talents, gifts, skills, knowledge, and experience to guide others in developing their own unique abilities while thoroughly enjoying the creative process of music.  ~  Anita G. Houser

Those who dare to teach must never cease to learn." -- Richard Henry Dann

Our Deepest Fear
By Marianne Williamson

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.

We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small
Does not serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine,
As children do.
We were born to make manifest
The glory of God that is within us.

It's not just in some of us;
It's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we're liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.
